Well before it always worked... I'm running kernel 2.4.17-pre4-openmosix. Anyway, before it would always work (with the mosix kernel), but just about 30 minutes ago I went to go recompile my kernel to get rid of nfs server support, since I wasn't using it anyway. When I rebooted I went to go emerge the nvidia drivers, as usual, but this time it said couldn't identify your kernel version, make sure the symlink /usr/src/linux is there. Well it is. After 30 minutes of frustration I gave up and downloaded the nvidia drivers from Nvidia's webpage. That worked, but also, I tried upgrading mplayer, which wanted to upgrade my alsa drivers. Those gave me the same problem. Anyone know what the deal could be? Also, it now says "Matched EXTRAVERSION more than once!" I never noticed it saying that before. Anyway here's the error message for alsa-driver (it's pretty much identical to the nvidia-kernel error):
Code: | Calculating dependencies ...done!
>>> emerge media-sound/alsa-driver-0.9.0_rc1-r5 to /
Matched EXTRAVERSION more than once!
>>> md5 ;-) alsa-driver-0.9.0rc1.tar.bz2
Matched EXTRAVERSION more than once!
>>> Unpacking source...
>>> Unpacking alsa-driver-0.9.0rc1.tar.bz2
>>> Source unpacked.

* Could not determine you kernel version.
* Make sure that you have /usr/src/linux symlink.
