but then i get ANOTHER line saying "cannot find /dev/hde" why exactly would it need to find hde? Do I need put /dev/hde in the fstab? I've really trying installing gentoo many times, and sadly, am not smart enough to figure it all out. | Did you add "devfs=mount" to the kernel line in grub.conf or in the append line of lilo.conf? _________________ Please add [solved] to the initial post's subject line if you feel your problem is resolved. yep, mounted both and appended that statement, makes no difference =( |

And does /proc exist (try mkdir /proc) and is it mounted at boot (see your fstab)? _________________ Please add [solved] to the initial post's subject line if you feel your problem is resolved. Help answer the unanswered
