I'm trying to enable internet + file sharing between two computers
one running gentoo linux 2.6.5 (with 2 ethernet cards) and the other Windows XP home edition
this is how it's set up
Internet connection (cable)

Linux
|
|
Windows Xp home
I have got an internet connection on my linux box..... but how do I connect windows xp home to the internet? |

well I don't feel like buying a rooter just yet... any other suggestions are welcome
I used to be abled to use the internet sharing when both pc's were running windows and I know that Win XP home has some problems with samba but there must be a way |

I did exactly that... but somehow it failed... first it gave an error that I had to set the visible_hostname in squid.conf...
I did that... (maybe not correct)
when I put the proxy settings in internet explorer @ win XP home... it couldn't find a thing... also did netstat -n in dos... it was completely blanc
