Hello.
I'm fighting with this for a very long time. I'm trying to get a user to become a domain administrator (like in Active directory). I would like that user to be able to:
- install programs in $admin share
- be able to log on to any machine in the network
- be able to add machines to the domain
And so on. I have that done on W2k server, but I would like to get the same effect with Samba. Is there a possibility? _________________ MuchaR

According with an howto I found we add user root to smbpasswd and we use it to join new machines to the domain I don't know if tis is what you need exactly but you cold try. |

Wouldn't mind knowing that myself, having a samba domain at home, i had to add us manually to the administrators group instead of being able to do it on the domain. Slightly annoying but i supose i can live with it ;/ |

Sure you can - if you have maximum 10 computers. But this is a network of over 200...
All I need is to get some users, eg. "muchar" ( ) and some others - not only root - to act like that root (or like domain administrator) so not only root could add computers to the domain, but eg. 10 other users. _________________ MuchaR

Indeed, its not possible for a large network... i don't know of any other way round it thou adn i do want one myself as i don't like -everyone- being admin, or having to constantly change the lists across all the pcs. |
