Hello,

I'm a new gentoo user. I've finished my install less than a week ago and so far I've found a solution to each of the problems I had searching the forums. This time, I can't find it anywhere, so I hope you can help me.
I first found out about the problem when I tried running the GoodWeather gdesklet, and it couldn't connect to the website. However, Mozilla can open www.weather.com with no problem. So I tried to ping www.weather.com, and here's the output:
Code:

$ ping www.weather.com
PING www.weather.com (63.111.24.20) 56(84) bytes of data.

--- www.weather.com ping statistics ---
3 packets transmitted, 0 received, 100% packet loss, time 1999ms

And Mozilla can open this website, that seems really weird to me. My network configuration is as follows. I have a Motorola cable modem connected to a Trendnet wireless/wired router. My computer is connected to the router with the NForce2 onboard NIC.
I have the router's IP set as the nameserver in /etc/resolv.conf. Everything seems to be set right in /etc/conf.d/net as well.

Edit: I forgot to mention that ping does work with other websites, like google.com. weather.com doesn't seem to be the only one not working though.

Any ideas?

weather.com simply doesn't reply pings.

Maybe you inserted an incorrect location? Test it using SZXX0006 (Bern, Switzerland 8) ) and restart the display.

Thank you for your answer.

My weather code should be right, I'm using SZXX0017 (Lausanne, Switzerland). Using the one for Bern doesn't work either.
Well, at least I know it's not a network problem (I didn't know some websites didn't reply pings), so I guess I'll ask my question somewhere else.
Thanks
