|
|
Dear All,
I am currrently planning to build a system to run Myth TV and act as a PVR and also an MP3 jukebox. I am currently planning on using an ABIT AN7 motherboard and using the optical out to power my home cinema reciever. Does anyone know of any problems with using this board and optical out on Linux?
The current specs I plan are:
Accent Home Theatre Case HT-100B
AMD Athlon XP 2800+ 333MHz FSB (512K L2 cache)
ABIT AN7 (nForce2 Ultra 400)
Super Flower Cooler AMD and P4 CNPS7000A Cooler
256MB RAM
Seagate Barracuda 120GB Ultra ATA, 8MB Cache
Graphics card - any reccomendations?
Spare DVD-ROM from other computer
Hauppage PVR-350
...and I plan to add a Nova-t DVB card once everything else is up and running.
Any further comments on this would be greatly appreciated.

Best bet is to check the searchable mailing list archive on www.mythtv.org. They built it so they will know the best way to get everything working. From the looks of it, everything is fine. I would go with NVidia for video card, maybe get some more memory, and keep your eyes open for cheap hard drives - can never have enough disk space.
Good luck and have fun - MythTV can be a little daunting at first, but once it is setup you will LOVE it. |
