Is there any hope of getting reasonable OpenGL performance on a video card that's not specifically named under x11 or x11-drm?
I thought DRI might be the answer, but it too requires that one of a limited set be specified first. _________________ core i7 + ati 5400 on GA-P55 |

To the best of my knowledge, not with a S3 Trio3D - the reason being that it doesn't have any 3D acceleration worth the name... So software OpenGL is your best hope. _________________ Military Commissions Act of 2006: http://tinyurl.com/jrcto

My card has only a 'frequently used' subset of 3d operations.
Good enough to play Armagetron under Windows.
But it's not only conspicuously 3d games that use OpenGL, and their performance isn't great either.
Not that I can expect much without any sign of the correct driver for Linux. _________________ core i7 + ati 5400 on GA-P55 |
