Speedstepping - Max freq too low on battery

I must be missing something obvious, but since I am, here I am to tell you all about it.

After many battles and obtaining many mental scars, I have a somewhat-working implementation of speedfreq. The system works elegantly, I must say, and I appreciate it much more than Windows' piss-poor handling of stepping (a 600mhz range vs. a 1.7ghz range!)

However, the issue that I am having right now is that when the laptop is booted without ac power, the machine believes that the cPU's maximum speed is 1.2ghz, when in fact it is 1.8. The solution to this problem is very easy, but also absurd. I need to find a way to get the machine to be informed of the true ceiling of the CPU.

Incidentally, 1.2ghz is the lowest speed that Windows would step down to in battery crisis. I wonder if the system is reporting to the kernel the incorrect speed, and if this can be fixed?

Another solution I thought of was to fool the system into thinking that it was on AC power, but that's not feasible as my current setup which I would like to keep runs the speedfreq daemon only when on battery power.
