Package Cd copy to harddrive?

Is it possible to copy the package CD to the Gentoo Hard drive (and put it into where ever Portage wants to see it), so that I don't need the CD for the first few things emerged??

for exemple you put it in /home/<user>/packages and for portage seems it you do PKGDIR="/home/<user>/packages" and when you type emerge -k it will search yhe packages from /home/<user>/packages but if i understand good
