can i stop emerge xfree with out porblems

i did emerge kde and apparently it already installed xfree86, but i started emerge xfree again. can i halt this or stop this and not mess up my system, therre's no point in installing it again.

Sure, while portage is emerginf anything it keeps it on a sand box to prevent it from damaging your system.
