This is my first ever experience with linux so please be gentle, ive finally managed to get gentoo to boot using the LiveCD and now im looking to setup gnome, i dont have a net connection available so im going to have to use the packages CD which i have already downloaded.
I have already emerged gnome and x11 with the gnome and gtk USE flags but i dont really know where to go from here. My friend suggested startx gnome to run gnome but it gets an error "no displays found" and exits. Does anyone know of a guide to setting up and running gnome on gentoo. I have done a google but i dont really understand much of what im reading and it seems to be of little help or not relevant. |

To test if X works, run
