I have two questions:

1. How do cool people download things? For example:
Code:
$ download http://www.whatever.com/bigfile.tar.gz

2. Where should I go to ask such "how cool linux people do things" questions?

Download: wget 'url'
Resume download: wget -c 'url'

There's also plenty of info about doing passive FTP, proxying, and so on in the man page :)

Really cool Linux people download files by sniffing their own network traffic on hardware basis and grepping out what they need.. *gg*

Right click link in konqueror, then select directory under the "Copy To" bit.

Maybe it's not cool but who can be arsed opening up a term and typing in crap when you can do it with 2 clicks :)

Supports resume too.

Hell yeah. I only use wget when someone gives me a specific url to a file they want to give me. Faster then opening mozilla in some cases i guess.

Super duper cool people (not Linux specific)
use lynx to browse/download, press d
on a link to download. Now you can
see who is a good web designer!
Of course ncftp is a must. I need it
for all of my ftp sessions. When I want
to see a picture of course I use firefox
and of course I use the great plugin that let you
choose your apps like ncftp when you
click on a ftp:// link.
If that does not sound cool to you...
I dont mind.
Cause it's cool to me so you should do
the same.(find what's cool to you!!!)

Cool people don't ask questions like this, they just know. If you ask them how they got there, they are too cool to give you an answer. ;)

Apart from that: wget is fine and forums.gentoo.org a good place to ask and search for solutions to any kind of problem. :D
