|
|
Hi all,
I have a server with an Adaptec ATA RAID 2400A controller, running RAID1.
When I use Adaptec's own raidutil tool, I get the following output:
Code: | belag:/usr/dpt # ./raidutil -L all | grep '^d0b.*Disk.*'
d0b0t0d0 Disk Drive (DASD) IC35L120 AVVA07-0 117800MB Drive in Warn
d0b2t0d0 Disk Drive (DASD) IC35L120 AVVA07-0 117800MB Optimal |
Now I have 2 questions:
1.) What does the "Drive in Warn" message means? Found nothing on Google
2.) Is there an easy way to switch the damaged HDD?
It's a productions system, so I have no "time to play" with the RAID config tool (question #2).
Greetings and TIA, Matthias |

The message means that at least one warning state was observed on the drive; whether this is severe or what kind of error caused it is not given.
If you have any doubts about it, replace the drive.
Second, how ?
OMG - who let you use RAID in the first place
Stop computer.
Take out HD.
Put in new HD
Start up computer.
Really.
But if this is, as you say, "a production system" and you have no "time to play" - guess what: you are playing.
Use RAID-5 if you're serious. _________________ >>> emerge (3 of 7) mcse/70-293 to /

No reason to bitch on the poor guy. Everyone is welcome to help here. I think he DID know how to replace the disk but maybe not how to rebuild the RAID.
Nevertheless I believe RAIDUTIL provides commands to manage disk rebuilds.
I have another question here: I used to have the 2400a installed in a Suse system. Later I switched to Gentoo and 2400a is running with the dpt_i2o driver on a 2.4.25 kernel. I am getting "osdIOrequest : File /dev/dpti17 Could Not Be Opened" and cannot start raitutil at all. So my question for haimat is:
How did you get RAIDUTIL to run????? Please get back with me. Thx. |
