Okay, it's not actually an Evolution update, but one of the ebuilds updated in the last 24 hours breaks Evolution. It now crashes on launch with the following messages:

In the popup window:
Code:
Cannot initialize the Ximian Evolution shell: Configuration Database not found

In the console:
Code:
evolution-shell-WARNING **: Cannot access Bonobo/ConfigDatabase on wombat: (IDL:omg.org/CORBA/COMM_FAILURE:1.0)

Any similar problems? Anyone know how to fix it? Any help is greatly appreciated.

AAAaaaaand I just answered my own question... apparently killing any oafd processes which are running fixes this. I hope this post helps anyone running into the same problem.

Now... anyone wanna explain WHY this happened/happens?

Kill the following processes if your evolution won't open:

oafd ( this is the one that fixed mine)

gconfd-1 or -2 ... this has been recommended by other threads on the same subject. It didn't come up in my case, because it wasn't open in my top list, but I hear that it can help.

Also, I imagine that restarting would fix this, if neither of those work, since it should just be a runaway process. Hope this helps.

I unmerged bonobo-activation and then emerged libbonobo and now everything works fine again.

Hope you guys have the same results.
