kde on my display, video on tv

i have a radeon 9600 and my tv is attached to the tv-out. when i switch my X resolution to =< 800x600 the display content is "cloned" to the tv.

is it possible to have kde on my tft monitor, but to tell xine/mplayer to display a movie on the tv, so that i can work on the computer, while my girlfriend is watching a divx movie on the tv? i'm currently running x.org, and i think i'd need something like xinerama to do what i need, but i think it doesn't work with x.org or am i wrong?
