How is the via epia support in x.org?
any experiences?
i have a via epia 9000 with the cle 266 integrated chipset.
my problem is, that via can't provide open source drivers for hardware mpeg acceleration the chipset supports, because of licence problems with s3.
are there any open source drivers for x.org?
thanks in advance

There ist a special x.org-unichrome version for the via cle266 chipset.
You can get more info on www.epiawiki.org in the epia-Gentoo-guide.
I managed to get a working X with it, but I still have MANY problems. |

i have [hopefully] a kind of related question. i have a m6000 epia and i am just building a 2.6.9 kernel to run on the box. i noticed with the 2.6.7 kernel, there was a config option for the CLE266, which i can't seem to find under 2.6.9. have i missed something??
or is the driver supported under X and not in the kernel?
any comments to clear up my misconceptions would be appreciated

If you mean Device Drivers > Graphics >
and then stuff like VESA, VGA, Rage128, GeForce... Just use vesafb_tng, has nothing to do with X anyway. |
