Something is wrong with my Mplayer. For some reason it really likes the blue color. It is as if it was in a blue and white color only config. Brown and black are fine, but every other color like green, red, yellow, pinks gets shades of blue. Anyone knows what is wrong?

I had a problem like this over the weekend trying to use the tv-out on my laptop that drove me insane.
All the people looked very smurfy to me! I have an ATI mobility m7 card btw. I was able to fix the color with the rgb2bgr filter however, my playback speed ground to a halt. I was left with three options when trying to get this running with atitvout
1. Normal color and playback speed with the top and bottom of the screen somewhat truncated. (Would have been fine if "The Last Samurai" didn't have subtitles at the bottom of the screen.
2. Wrong color(blue people), right size and playback speed using vo x11.
3. Right size, right color and poor playback speed (as described above with the rgb2bgr filter).
I suppose this could be an mplayer bug but I'm betting on the ati card. |

Same here.
I have a Radeon IGP 340M, using 2.6.5-mm6 kernel.
Funny, playback its fine, unless its in framebuffered console using the vesa driver.
Which drivers (other than vesa) support framebuffer playback?

Mplayer has special fb drivers for Radeon, Gf, and a few other cards. I don't know if they get installed with the Gentoo ebuild, but have used them in my Debian-days. _________________ Registered linux user #341804

mplayer might be a very capable media player but it is far from a mature media player. for example i don't want to see a black area for about a minute before mplayer plays a huge avi file. there are many little issues like this that makes it look like far from being a mature product. |

Yes, I was seeing similar behaviour on audio.
I used icebergradio.com and it seemed to download a whole audio track before I got any sound. Equally , when I cut the internet connection I still got about 3 mins music.
I say "used" because it is now completely stuffed and saturates my system by spawning an indefinate number of processes, each of which fails to play the audio ....so it does another.
Help!
I have to kill Opera to clean up , then start agiain. It also failed for mozilla but at least moz did not spawn like bullfrog on heat.
Botton line mplayer is not any use here. |

try
Code: | mplayer -vf rgb2bgr=swap filename.avi
or
mplayer -vf rgb2bgr filename.avi |
the second code fixed the blue problem in my system. _________________ /*Does it always take a longer time to find a shorter way?*/ |

My pb seems to be more related to mplayerplug-in
I can download and view files with mplayer on the command line with no error . It is just if I try to view a page with opera or moz. that I get a mess.
anyone getting this behaviour?

I had a blue problem with mplayer using an nvidia TNT2 card
and it seems fixed if I invoke mplayer with -vo sdl as in...
Code: |
mplayer -vo sdl filename.VOB
|
I just tried things in the list generated by
you might find something there that works for you |
