When I was doing emerge system it failed on open-ssl, however when I tried to run it again it worked fine.
Is it safe to assume everything is ok or not?

Well, you didn't really provide much information (i.e., the exact error).
Based on my experiences, I think you should be fine. Good luck! |

Sorry about not having the error, I forgot to copy it down before I reran the merge.
Is there any reason why this would happen? Could it be because I'm running the install from inside a current installation? |

I would imagine if it was just a build error, i.e. it crapped out half way during the compile, it should be allright. Maybe you were missing a library or something.
Are you using this as a production server to process credit cards? Then personally I'd build everything by hand. If its just a hobby, I wouldn't worry about it. _________________ I wanted to be a pimp when I grew up. Turns out I became a computer nerd. Go figure. |

No the server is not that important.
Its mainly a file/print/ssh/web server. |
