Hi,
I have /etc/X11, and an xorg.conf.example file, but no xorg.conf file.... why don't I have one, or how can I get one? I've tried the "Migrating to Modular X" documentation, but still no xorg.conf file. I want it for a variety of things, the main thing at the moment is to change my screen resolution.
EDIT:
Also, when using xrandr -s XxY any resolution above 800x600 it says "not found in available modes." Where are these available modes declared?

Cool. I've got an xorg.conf. Now what about this issue: Once I edit my xorg.conf to have "1920x1200" as my screen res, everything gets HUUUGE. And yet, this is a perfectly good resolution in Ubuntu.... why is this? How can I get it so 1920x1200 looks "normal" to me on Gentoo?
Also, can anyone tell me what the "Virtual" part in xorg.conf is for? Cause I changed that from 800 600 to 1920 1200 and now it's at 1024 768 to see if my issue is related to that.
EDIT: I'm going to put "solved" here and start a new topic for the above question. |
