under kde I'm using desktop sharing
under winxp I'm using realvnc
When I log on from my windows I see immediately a gray screen and teh program closed, in kde i see: Remote user logged on, imediately followed by: remote user logged off
What's the problem?
'I had a simmilar problem using only windows xp and then I had to log in as a console session instead of a normal session (wich means only administrator could log in) The problem here lays with the graphical card, I don't know if it could be the same problem? or how to solve it?' |

You have to specify the correct X display to log on to.
The gray screen indicates a new X window that has nothing in it, i.e. not your running KDE session.
If you connect to hostname:<X display> in vncviewer it should work.
Or else you haven't correctly configured the KDE thingy - Xvnc will by default start up a new X display, never connect to an already-running instance. _________________ >>> emerge (3 of 7) mcse/70-293 to /

if I say: 192.168.0.3:1 I get the message: Failed to connect to server, I Only can connect (to be disconnected again immediately) to the running instance 192.168.0.3:0
And that is so not how I want it! |

So you don't want to connect to the running instance ?
That's simple - it is in fact Xvnc's default behaviour.
As I said, it makes a new X display - that would be :1 in your case.
Check the vncserver docs on how to specify a display number.
Or not, as I think that's what the KDE thingy is doing. _________________ >>> emerge (3 of 7) mcse/70-293 to /

I'll re explain what I did and what I want
I have a gentoo pc
I want to login to the gui, from a windows xp computer
On the windows xp computer I have installed realvnc
On the gentoo computer i used krfb to set up desktop sharing
Now I can only log in on the kde I'm using, not to a new instance
Also there is a lot of lag! I don't have that when I log in from gentoo to windows (rdp protocol instead of vnc)
Are there better tools to use?
Or can I use the windows xp remote desktop tool to login on linux ?(I geuss i'll need an rdp server for that) |
