|
|
I have gentoo set up from a stage1 tarball on a low spec pc: 64MB RAM, 133MHz CPU - and working well with xorg and fluxbox. But mozilla is very slow - much disk thrashing. I would appreciate suggestions for a lightweight graphical browser that won't make too many demands on RAM.
Many thanks

DamnSmallLinux uses Dillo.
Since DSL is a mini-distro made specially for older systems it should fit the bill nicely. _________________ >>> emerge (3 of 7) mcse/70-293 to /

Many thanks for all the replies. I have dillo running now, and it is lightening fast
I'll give links a try later, too.
That's a good tip about DamnSmallLinux - I'll see what they use for wordprocessing and spreadsheet, etc.
Thanks again

Correction - dillo is mostly working great, but I can't get it to accept cookies. I have edited ~/.dillo/cookiesrc to:
DEFAULT ACCEPT
but it still won't accept any cookies. Oh - and can't log in to forum without cookies!
I'd appreciate some help.
Many thanks
