Hello,
when I burn a cd (a gentoo iso image to be exact) with k3b, my whole system gets jumpy and slow, ie. mouse cursor jumps around, buttons react to clicks about 5 secs later. The faster the burning speed, the slower the system (burning speed also jumps around, like 14x...11x...17x..) . Is this normal? I think in some cases the system was smooth while burning, but I dont think I changed something. cdrecord runs suid rood and k3bsetup doesnt complain or anything. |

if you have a ide burner or ide system, then your cpu is used alot while accessing the ide system. this is normal. but it is not normal that the system get's that "jupy". did you change something in your kernel or any other thing?
