|
|
I need to connect a windows nt 4 box to my linux box. The problem is that the windows nt is a very old laptop and does not have a network card or pcmcia. Does any one have an idea how to set this up.
All I need to do is too transfer some files from the windows box to my linux box so it does not have to be permanent.
I thought about using a serial or parallel cable but I don't know which is the best to use or how to set it up.
any help or comments appreciated. _________________ scars look better than tatoos |

you could give PLIP a try
http://metalab.unc.edu/mdw/HOWTO/mini/PLIP.html
i tried some time ago without much luck.
there are some docs on a connection between dos and linux but don't know if nt woould be the same.
you should get a bit of info from a google. Also linux journal had an article: The Linux Home Network, with PLIP in it.
good luck |

or you can simply connect your old hard drive to the unix box and mount it, if your kernel has NTFS read support |
