I finally got Gentoo working on a server at school It has 2 SATA disks in RAID 1. Finally they won't bitch about Linux and Gentoo (They think Linux is inferior to Windows, especially when Gentoo took hours to set up... I gave them something to bitch about, because I couldn't get it working). Well basically it works like breeze now The server is just for a small local LAN and has DHCP and Samba running and I used gentoo-dev-sources. The problem ended up being fixed after I installed ~x86 on top of a pure x86 install. The server has Athlon XP 2400+, 1024 DDR RAM, 2x80gb SATA Seagate disks in RAID 1, a burner, and is behind school's proxy.

I'm trying to raise money so I can build a cheap Linux machine then go around and show it off to schools in hopes of helping people. Go to my site to learn more if you care to contribute.
Gentoo is the stuff. They should kneel down and kiss its shoes. lol Now put the love sources on there and it'll be awesome. |

They not ever see windoze crash or what? Linux may be a little harder, depending on hardware support, but once it is running, you just leave it alone.
Good work though. Get them while they are young.

Today I set up Gnome 2.6.1 and put on some fance themes and transparency and they couldn't remove their eyes from the screen
And they actually like OpenOffice! (ximian's) _________________ There is, a not-born, a not-become, a not-made, a not-compounded. If that unborn, not-become, not-made, not-compounded were not, there would be no escape from this here that is born, become, made and compounded. - Gautama Siddharta |
