I finally got Gentoo working on a server at school

It has 2 SATA disks in RAID 1. Finally they won't bitch about Linux and Gentoo (They think Linux is inferior to Windows, especially when Gentoo took hours to set up... I gave them something to bitch about, because I couldn't get it working). Well basically it works like breeze now

The server is just for a small local LAN and has DHCP and Samba running and I used gentoo-dev-sources. The problem ended up being fixed after I installed ~x86 on top of a pure x86 install. The server has Athlon XP 2400+, 1024 DDR RAM, 2x80gb SATA Seagate disks in RAID 1, a burner, and is behind school's proxy.

They not ever see windoze crash or what? Linux may be a little harder, depending on hardware support, but once it is running, you just leave it alone.

Good work though. Get them while they are young. :lol:

Today I set up Gnome 2.6.1 and put on some fance themes and transparency and they couldn't remove their eyes from the screen :lol:

And they actually like OpenOffice! (ximian's)
