I'm close to tears...
Having spent an eternity trying to get xfree and kde installed from cd and not d'loaded, it now refuses to work properly!
I've went through the normal /usr/X11R6/bin/xf86config and also tried X -configure but the former just gives me a lot of garbage on screen with a cursor, and won't quit where the latter just fails config.
It wouldn't work before as it said that sis_drv couldn't be found. I went to SiS's website and downloaded the Linux driver for the 650 chipset and copied it to /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers. I can't think what else to do now. Could it be that the driver is incompatable with the version of XFree that comes on the 2004.1 CD?
Any help would be greatly appreciated in stopping me going back to Windows - I'm so close to freeing my comp I'm not giving in now! LOL
