|
|
This may be a hardware-specific problem, but the default Gentoo kernel freezes on "ACPI: IRQ9 SCI: Level Trigger." This has happened before, with any 2.6.6 -mm kernel after 4, but for god's sake, the Gentoo LiveCD kernel is a 2.4 kernel right!?
Note this is on an HP ze4560us laptop with the latest BIOS (it's booted into Windows right now; going to downgrade bios, might fix it).
In the meantime, I can't boot the LiveCD without specifying acpi=off, and if I do that, I can't boot a kernel higher than 2.6.6-mm4/love4.

I had a problem installing gentoo of of a live cd due to a hardware specifc problem...
I ended up using Koppix to install instead so if noone can give you an answer you could try that you can pretty much follow the manual, infact its kinda nice doing it from a desktop enviroment, surf the net etc whilst compiling etc... _________________
