I have a Sceptre X7SVNaga 17 LCD Monitor, its a widescreen. The problem is, about %25 of my screen is being wasted beacuse X doesn't use the whole screen. How do I get X to pick up the whole screen and use this extra space?
The specs for the monitor are at

which resolution do u use?
cos u shouldnt go with 1280x1024/1024x768 on a 16:9 screen.
or u just stetch the picture. but with the monitor OSD.
so i dont think its X's fault. _________________ ceterum censeo microsoft esse delendam

I run with 1024x768, but anything less and the picture doesn't fit.
the problem is,
Actual screen size
|-----------------------------|
used screen size
|-----*-----------------*-----|
so I have the edges of my screen going to waste. |

Most modern monitors communicate via DDC with the computer.
Search for "DDC" in the XFree/X.org log-file (located in /var/log).
There should be some lines with modes like "1024x768".
Add one of these modes to your XFree/X.org configuration file in /etc/X11.
Should work. |

It sounds like the resolution is wrong. Looking at that page, it looks like the native resolution of the LCD is 1280x768. So try changing the resolution you have in your XF86Config from 1024x768 to 1280x768. _________________ Doomwookie
