I have a VAIO-C1VG whihc has a small screen. The native resolution of WinME which it was shipped with is 1024x480. I am able to get 1024x480 in both XFree and X.org by a special modline. But i cannot get the same in the console. It depends on the framebuffer driver. There was a special driver for ATI Rage Mobility (the video shipset it has ) but it was discontinued after 2.4.17 (or 2.4.20). i just want to know a workaround svga selection so i can force it to use vesa or atyfb on 1024x480. besides if i dont have a framebuffer for some odd reason my x doesnt even boots either
possible work arounds could be with video.s in /arch/i386/boot and svga.txt in Documentation.
i am using 2.6 gentoo sources |
