I am sorry to keep asking this but no one seems to know the answer and I have not found anyone who has had the same problem. I have the 2.6.5-gentoo-r1 kernel and have followed this tutorial http://odin.prohosting.com/wedge01/gentoo-radeon-faq.html#2_kernelopts as well as several others but get the same error, every time. Fglrxconfig places a line in the xf86config-4 file stating that no device was present at time of config and when I try to modprobe fglrx, I get a similar error that it cannot find the device (no such device). I have agpgart, intel-agp, and fglrx loading in my modules. At boot, the first two don't return an error but fglrx does. Lspci shows it and correctly identifies the ATI 9000 mobility.
Does fglrx use the xf86config-4 file to help load itself or can I stop screwing around with it until fglrx finds the device?
Does anyone have any idea why this driver can't find the device? Is it maybe a pci card and I need to configure differently? Has anyone gotten this card to work with this kernel and should I try a new driver/kernel? Any help would be great. |

Sorry to answer your question with more questions, but...
Is this fgrlx thing the proprietary driver from ATI? I tought they don't work with 2.6 kernels...
I have a radeon mobility 7500 working with the stock ati drivers from xfree, the kernel is 2.4.25-gentoo-r3 (and the kernel drm module radeon.o). Not impressive, gave just 800+fps in glxgears, but...
Peace. _________________ "Contrary to popular belief, UNIX is user-friendly. It only happens to be picky on its friends." |

Yes, the one I'm using (well, trying to use) is the proprietary from ATI. I thought I had read of people using it with other ati cards and 2.6. Maybe I'm wrong though. |
