Hi I am quite a newbie in Gentoo Linux, so sorry about the silly questions
Is it possible to run KDE programs in Fluxbox WM? Which commands do I have to give to install Fluxbox with KDE support? Of course I don't want to have the whole KDE on my system.
Thanks. |

I'm pretty sure as long as you have the programs installed you can run them. I have kde-libs and kde-base installed and I can run Konqueror |

You should be able to open your KDE programs in console. You can also add them to your menu by editing the ~./fluxbox/menu file.
I think when you emerge fluxbox you can also add KDE support.
You can double check by typing as root in console. It show you what use flags are available and I think kde is one of them. so you can recompile with the KDE use flag on. However, I'm not entirely sure what it does other than dock some programs in the slit (like Kmix and Juk).
In my opinion fluxbox is so fast you'll soon get sick of slow KDE programs and I would suggest looking for faster alternatives (rox instead of konqueror, smixer instead of kmix, etc.).
Good luck! |
