hi
my main email server just crashed 2 weeks ago, so i installed postfix on my laptop with the same setup. now i got my old server back up again. how can i forward the mails on my laptop to my old server without changing much in the mail contents so everyone sees there mails as they should be and not forward from X to X (no rewriting of the header, etc.)
thx a lot for your help.

You're probably gonna need to give more info to get a good answer for this question. If you're talking about just a few mailboxes, the easiest thing might be just to do an IMAP->IMAP copy. That makes it really simple. Otherwise, if both the mailservers support the same storage format (mbox/maildir), you should be able to copy the mail over using scp or something of the like. |

If you're doing .maildir format I'd just copy the files directly over. The X-Sender headers and the like might be a bit odd, but it's not going to affect the users. Just make sure you flush the queue in postfix before shutting it down to catch anything that might still be hanging aroudn undelivered.
Did the same thing recently when I setup our new mail server at work.

it's pretty simple. i just got 2 mailserver with the exact same settings. some mails are on the first one, some on the second one.. now i just wanna get the mails from every account from the second one to the first one.
oups, sry. just saw the second answer.. so i just have to copy each file.. cool. gotta try this..
[UPDATE]
thx, worked like a charm!
