mount wasn't working properly, so I rebooted....and when I boot back up, I try and get this.

Code:
deepthought root # mount /mnt/cdrom
mount: special device /dev/cdroms/cdrom0 does not exist

Any idea what could have happened? This is a major bummer.

Are ide-cd and cdrom support compiled in the kernel or as modules? If you've got them as modules, make sure they're loaded.

Which kernel are you using? Did the cdrom work before?

Well, running dmesg might give you some indication what might be going on. Does the computer run another OS? Perhaps testing the drive with another OS could rule out a hardware failure.

Hope this helps.

Well, it seems as though its not the OS. Yes, it was working before. I put the side of my case on, About 20 minutes, later, when I wanted to use it, it didn't work. All I can assume is that I bumped something. When I'm not tired I'll check out the internals of the case. Till then
