I know this problem has to be machine specific, but I need help figuring out what the problem is. The machine in question has been running xmms for quite some time with no problem, but recently it started barfing. I'm not sure what might have changed because, frankly, I'm sure I've been dicking around with all sorts of stuff on it.

When I start xmms on it, it seems like it starts to create a window (I'm using fluxbox) and then it segfaults. If I ssh into this troublesome box from somewhere else and start xmms, it also segfaults.

Here's the particulars of this machine
Code:
Linux daneel 2.6.7-rc1-mm1 #1 SMP Tue Jun 1 00:57:12 MDT 2004 i686 Pentium III (Coppermine) GenuineIntel GNU/Linux

Now, here's the weird thing. I built xmms from the ebuild on this machine
Code:
Linux madscience 2.4.25_pre7-gss-r5 #1 SMP Tue Jun 1 13:12:54 MDT 2004 i686 Pentium III (Katmai) GenuineIntel GNU/Linux
and it runs fine on madsience. But, when I move the xmms binary to daneel (the troublesome machine) it still segfaults.

What's even weirder is that I can build the latest xmms from source and it works fine. Ugh. The only USE flag I'm using is oggvorbis.

Anybody have any ideas?

Whew. I finally got it. I unemerged xmms and then did an updatedb. Then I did a
Code:
locate xmms
and saw that there were some files lurking around still. Mainly, the /usr/lib/xmms directory. So, I removed all those files, re-emerged xmms and all is well.
