Hi!

I have problems writing the drift file.

Code:

oot@serv4 /var/log # cat ntpd.log

4 Jun 08:24:24 ntpd[15524]: can't open ntp.drift.TEMP: Permission denied
4 Jun 09:24:24 ntpd[15524]: can't open ntp.drift.TEMP: Permission denied

driftfile is /var/lib/misc/ntp.drift

Where does ntpd want to write this TEMP file?

check the permissions on the drift file. 644 ntp:ntp should be fine /var/lib/misc/ntp.drift /var/lib/ntp/ntp.drift _________________ linux: #232767

I have set the "drift directory" to /var/lib/ntp which belongs to user/group ntp. Everything is fine now. Thanks.
