Thanks LV for the update..
So whats a total noob like myself to do to get the fixed version?
Do I need to resync or download a new stage1? I have beem trying to get this installed on my laptop for about 4 days now... at present, I have succesfuly bootstrapped (using bootstrap.sh not bootstrap.2-6.sh) and all the default documented settings in the Amd64 handbook.
I haven't done the Emerge System yet.
Thanks,

if you bootstrapped, you're set. you already have glibc. to get the updates, re-sync. |

Hi,
thanks for that, I see, Gentoo is great. If now the amd64 graphic driver will be improved by Nvidia, the "world" becomes perfect

Hello,
I have the problem that my glibc brocke when I update it. I can't run any programm after update and I must overwrite the libs from backup to run my computer again.
Is this problem known? |

an other problem with the new glibc, is that my aterm windows isn't transparent anymore
(well, everything is transparent, except the borders ... so I've got a black square on my desktop .....)
Oh, and anything that can be done against this:
Code: | root@Kryptonite dnetc-server # emerge -p world
These are the packages that I would merge, in order:
Calculating world dependencies
*** Package in world file is not installed: sys-apps/fileutils
*** Package in world file is not installed: sys-apps/textutils
*** Package in world file is not installed: sys-apps/sh-utils
...done! |
just got this on my server after merging world...
Greetz.
// edit: I guess installing the package would fix it _________________ Tuinslak |

Hi...
my AMD64 doesn't work in any ways!!!
I have emerge gcc with USE="-hardened -ntpl" and so on, but nothing!!
I have emerge binutils, but nothing
Error is always: src_compile ecc...
Other problem adds after that:
"emerge sync" - libpopt.so no such file or directory!!
I HAVE MORE PROBLEMS AND MY GENTOO IS UNSTABLE!!!
How can I resolve it??[/b] |

I'm having the same problem. I do emerge world and it borks my whole system when it tries to merge glibc-2.3.4.20040619-r1. |

Using GCC x86_64_pc-linux-gnu-3.3.3
scripts/bootstrap-2.6.sh failes with error in glibc-2.3.3_pre20040529

glibc fails to compile here while bootstrapping, too _________________ Mit null lässt sich eine ganze Menge machen.

The previous post was on the 13th, so I guess no one's having any problems now. For some reason I am though. Seems like the same problem from what I can see, except it's with "glibc-2.3.4.20040808".
I've been using Gentoo for a while. No crazy flags - so make.conf is not the culprit. Recently, emerge told me the make.profile was outdated. I updated the link as per instruction and bang!
Here's the end of the error output:
Code: | collect2: ld terminated with signal 11 [Segmentation fault]
make[2]: ***
[/var/tmp/portage/glibc-2.3.4.20040808/work/build/linuxthreads/libc.so] Error 1

`/var/tmp/portage/glibc-2.3.4.20040808/work/glibc-2.3.3/linuxthreads'
make[1]: *** [linuxthreads/others] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory
`/var/tmp/portage/glibc-2.3.4.20040808/work/glibc-2.3.3'
make: *** [all] Error 2
!!! ERROR: sys-libs/glibc-2.3.4.20040808 failed.
!!! Function src_compile, Line 571, Exitcode 2

Should I have to post a bug report or something? |
