I'm runnin a gentoo on a laptop, it's a HP 4200 series. Yesyerday everything seemed to work perfectly. I've been having problems with the battery but it should not affect anything on the system as far as the laptop is connected to AC.
This morning I booted the machine and I found that every 5 seconds or so the system gets "hang" during maybe half a sec, and then it continues to work perfectly durng another 5 or 10 seconds. this NEVER happened before.
When I run a top on the box I can see that the keventd process (which seems to manage the event queue on the kernel) is using a 10% of the CPU, I don't remember to have it using this huge amount of CPU usage before.
It's really annoying to have to be using a machine wich in gaming terms runs at a slow framerate. Any help? I'm using a 2.4.25-r1 kernel. I'm updating to r3 right now but I don't think it's gonna solve the problem.
Many thanks. _________________ Live long and prosper |
