hi,

when i restart my xserver the screen goes black (or crazy colors) and the system hangs complitly. the same thing happens when i log out in fluxbox.

i'm using:
xorg
fluxbox
2.6.5 dev-sources

i am not sure i can help much but
did u use xfree previously , if u did remove ur xorg.conf ... xorg will use ur old config
check ur kernel see if ur video card is compiled and if its a module load it
rerun the xorgconfig

p.s. if u using vga remove it from ur grub.conf or lilo.conf

im having the exact same problem. let me know if you ever found out why this happens or how to fix it. It also happens with gnome. im pretty sure its an xorg related problem

i get this is I have the 'nvidia' driver called out in my xorg.conf. reverting it to 'nv' keeps it from crashing, but you lose hardware acceleration.

just a workaround for now.
