I did the install just fine, and when i went to reboot i get a could not find inittab please select a run level right after the kernel loads. I tried 2 default 6 and a few others but none worked, any ideas?

Gentoo doesn't use numbers for their run levels. You should read the Gentoo Linux 1.0 Init System.

i know gentoo doesn't but i believe init still does. And init was the one that through the error. Does gentoo come without a inittab or did i miss part of the install procedure?
