HP Pavilion zt1135 doesn't boot from HD

I just got this laptop, which came with Windows XP Pro installed.

cpuinfo told me it has sse so I assumed it runs with an Pentium 3 Core even tough it has an Intel Celeron CPU.

After using lilo and grub... the system doesn't start up. It says no boot manager found.
So I took the HD out of a different Pentium 3 laptop and it gives me the same message.

Any ideas?
