From the error it seems to me that your lilo/grub.conf is trying to tell the kernel that it should be booting to hda5 when you should specify /dev/hda5 for the root option. |

my grub.conf
Code: |
timeout 5
default 0
title artemis (framebuffer)
root (hd0,0)
kernel /kernel-2.6.7-rc2 root=/dev/hda5 video=vesafb:ywrap,mtrr vga=0x317
title artemis
root (hd0,0)
kernel /kernel-2.6.7-rc2 root=/dev/hda5

Scratch that then
and your sure that /dev/hda5 is your main (/) partition and that /dev/hda1 is your /boot partition? Sorry to ask such a basic question, but aside from that, I'm clueless. Apart from making sure that you installed grub right... |
