hi,
i'm having some serious issues with setting up sound on my compaq presario 2170US. on an older version of gentoo all that i had to do was insmod ac97 and trident drivers. now i am unable to find a .ko for ac97 and i got snd-trident loaded fine. still no sound so i went and tried to use alsa. when i ran grep -i audio /proc/pci i get an ali m5451 driver which i used for alsa but when i start alsasound it cant load snd-seq. at some point in all of this my whole section of /lib/modules/gentoo-2.6.5-rq/kernel is now completely empty...can someone please help me, email me if you can |

| arg this is becoming more agravating with all the time i put into it for sound not to work and then my newbness making it fall apart |
