I have a TYAN Thunder K7 (S2462) with dual 2200 MP processors and I have not been ablle to get it to poweroff the system. I run poweroff and it turns the ide hard drives, mouse and keyboard off but the system is still running. All fans are running cds, SCSI drives... And this is with many different kernel versions, vanilla-sources 2.4.26, dev-sources 2.6.5, 2.6.6 rc1, 2.6.6, 2.6.5 wolk 3.0 patched. Can APM turn the poweroff as there is a warining in my log about using apic?

do you have apm=power-off in your grub or lilo config file, in the kernel/append line?

I believe that normally works, even without apm support in the kernel.
