Hello
I tried kernels >= linux-2.6.6-mm5 and the bootup step hangs when launching hotplug rc-scripts ... However this did not happen on linux-2.6.6-mm1 with an almost exactly same kernel configuration ! ... i jsut tried linux-2.6.7-rc2-mm2 and it does the same thing .... the green "OK" doesnt show up (i though it was pci hotplugg buggin because it used to hang on "starting pci hotplugging" so i renamed /etc/hotplug/pci.rc to /etc/hotplug/pci.rc.bkp ... but it now hangs a bit further) !
could someone help me to find out what is going wrong ?
btw i have an " asus a7n8x deluxe " motherboard with no additionnal pci cards ... it is a nforce2 chipset !
i would be pleased to give more data if someone interested !
have a nice day, thanks for the read ! _________________ please, help me, pity on me :'( |

I'm using linux-2.6.7-rc2-mm2 and hotplug, and it isn't causing me any problems. It tells me that hotplug support isn't compiled into the kernel, even though it is, but the start-up scripts work fine and create the devices they're supposed to create...
I don't know what's going wrong for you! _________________ No-one's more important than the earthworm. |

I have the same problem on the identical hardware. I have been searching for quite some time to get a solution but so far no good, it seems that if you remove hotplug from the start up all is ok, but in my case with a pure USB system and pure UDEV the system doesn't work without it. If anyone know's something let me know! |

I am also having the very same problem on that same motherboard with no pci cards whatsoever.
Edit: I just tried removing hotplug from start up as well, and it did allow the system to boot, but no mouse |
