KDE/perl/gimp emerge problem

hello.

i just installed Gentoo 1.4 rc1-r2. now i am trying to install kde. i masked out kde beta2, and when i do an "emerge kde" i get this error:

"Lib.xs:2198: too few arguments to function 'Perl_croak'"

several times, and then the final Ebuild error. it seems to be installing gimp-1.2.3=r2 when i have already installed gimp 1.3. i do not even know why kde is installing gimp...

any clue to what i am doing wrong?
