|
|
Since I am keeping my Suse 9.1 and have the bootloader
there, I see no reason of installing another
bootloader.
Once I installed Gentoo I couldn't not configure my
Suse bootloader properly to boot Gentoo? I couln't find
the kernel-2.6.5-gentoo and initrd-2.6.5-gentoo file
on my machine. Who can help me, thank you very much in advance! |

Well, I would like to help you, but the info you provided is a bit sparse. Ok, this is what I need to know:
1) What is the partition layout on your hardisk:
('/dev/hda' means the first IDE harddisk in your system; second would be '/dev/hdb', etc...)
2) Where did you install your gentoo kernel files?
3) What is your bootloader config? (I think SuSE uses GRUB as default). Boot SuSE and find /boot/grub/menu.lst or /boot/grub/grub.conf and post it here. |

if your suse installation is still there, in a separate partition then you will need to boot into suse and configure the bootloader there.
if you overwrote your suse install with the gentoo one, the sensible course of action is to install a bootloader through gentoo.
considering my bias (it's a gentoo forum after all), i would suggest doing things the gentoo way _________________ "if an injury has to be done to a man it should be so severe that his vengeance need not be feared." - niccolò machiavelli |
