I've got 60GB, 40GB and 20GB ide disks i want to put together in a raid setup on a standard motherboard ide controller. I've also got a normal cdrom drive to put in as well. The raid setup i'll be using is putting the 40 and 20gb disks in a JBOD setup then putting that in a raid1 with the 60GB disk.

For best performance should I put the 60 and 40GB on the primary controller and 20GB(which would only be used if the 40GB gets full) and the 20GB and cdrom on secondary, or another way round?

Raid using both channels of each of your ide lines is gonna be HORRIBLE. the ata lines can only write to one device at a time. Id reccomend a seperate ide card
