hab ich da irgendwas falsch verstanden oder wieso hab ich den eindruck, dass gcc auf einem x86_64-System a.out binaries erzeugt?

Die Binaries heissen zwar a.out (wenn -o nicht angegeben wurde) sollten aber ELF sein. Im Zweifelsfall

Code:

# readelf -h a.out

(Zeigt den ELF-Header des Binaries an, falls es ELF ist)
