Hi,
I've got a peculiar problem I can't quiet figure out... when I boot my newly reinstalled gentoo partition it hangs after * Starting local
I have edited /etc/conf.d/local.start , it now only contains a line with 'echo "yup" ' and a blank line with carriage return.
When I start the computer now it ouputs yup after the other scripts and does very little else, any suggestions where I should look?
And is there a way to do interactive startup? i know somebody else also posted that question, but never got a reply.
Thanks,
-Arne |

after local.start, X starts.
Try to boot with a Live Linux cd and check your XF86Config |

After compiling a few kernels, I finally got to this same point.
After "Starting local", booting just kinda stops.
It's not X, because I haven't even built those packages yet.
And I'm not getting virtual terminals either, so I haven't even reached that far.
What could it be? I'm not really familiar with how Gentoo determines the script order! Like, where's my /etc/rc_.d's ??
Help appreciated, or Garo, how'd you do it?
Thanx |
