Hello everyone. I have recenlty installed Gentoo on my older laptop. And I am very new at Gentoo, so bear with me. I am having a problem with my NIC. I noticed that when I ran the Live CD, it recognized my card right off of the bat. But after I had my own installation running via hard drive, it doesn't pick up my NIC. (3CXFE575BT) I have downloaded the PCMCIA-CS package about 1/2 an hour ago, and enabled it to start on bootup, but it doesn't help. In the bootup, it shows that it "starts PCMCIA" But it says nothing about recognizing a network. I have set my network protocols in the /etc/conf.d/net , to DHCP, and that still doesn't help. (I am on a cable modem with a broadband router. So it is set to DHCP) I am very excited to join Gentoo and it's community, but I do not understand why this isn't booting to the network. Any help is appreciated. And thank you all. |

The live cd uses hotplug to load the needed modules, did you try te emerge hotplug and adding it to the boot runlevel (rc-update add hotplug boot)? |

There's a network card sticky at the top of the index page. |
