|

im looking for the best way to convert dvd video (i can already rip it) to divx video and the audio to ogg using an ogm container any suggestions on programs would be helpful. I have already tried to use transcode but it would drop all of the frames each time for some reason, and i have tried to use konverter and acidrip but neither of those gave me the selection for divx5 video or ogg audio. |

IMHO dvdrip is the easiest solution for your purpose. It comes with a user-friendly graphical interface, yet it lets you control all the output options and offers an easy migration path to command-line processing, if you want. |

dvdrip is just a graphical interface for transcode and some helper apps, so there must be something wrong beneath. |

a nice kombination is mencoder, vorbis-tools and ogmtools. its not a one click solution though. i usually rip the video with mencoder and output the 5.1 ac3 sound as stereo pcm. convert the .wav with oggenc and merge audio and video with ogmmerge. |

Well I wasn't looking for a one click solution I was just looking for a solution that works and could you give me a sample of the command line that you use so I have something to start from (I couldn't tell what the man pages were telling me to do and don't want to try to decypher them if I don't have to) |

well i got transcode to work i guess it must have compiled wrong all i did was unmerge it then emerge it again but it still won't use the divx5 codec but i think the ffmpeg mpeg4 codec will work for now |

Has anybody found a good way to convert the 5.1 dvd soundtrack to a 6 channel ogg-vorbis?
